Welcome.  This blog is a celebration of the arts of the Northwest and creative impulses from around the world.  It relates one person’s involvement with painting, making videos, teaching college art classes and curating art exhibits over the years, with an emphasis on current projects.

From the prehistoric era to the present, art has recorded and revealed the things that are the most important to us.  It has presented to others our personalities and preferences, and given a glimpse of how we view the world.

Art can bring pleasure with color, pattern and design. It can relate suffering as well as joy and help us deal with pain and loss.  It can mend the rent fabric of lives, heal wounds, repair broken spirits. It can reflect the efforts of a lifetime or capture a moment in time with works that are long lasting or transient and briefly glimpsed.

Making art is one of the best things that we human beings do and this blog is a small part of the ongoing celebration in paint, print, music, dance, video, and internet sources of  what artists have given and continue to give to us all.
